Helen Smith works in kiln formed glass, creating art pieces which draw inspiration from the landscape and light of the Dee estuary. As well as art pieces she makes a range of original fused glass jewellery and a range of Christmas decorations, as well as vases and platters created from old bottles.

Recycling always plays a part; whether its using scraps of old textiles and found objects to create the texture and print which is then transferred into glass, or using recycled glass to create hanging decorations and recycled bottle vases.

Whether she’s working with glass, or in her other mediums print and stitch, Helen’s work explores the interplays of light, surface and texture. She draws her inspiration from the stunning natural light and sweeping horizons of the estuary where she lives, and the land, water and sky that surrounds her.

Helen is a member of the Contemporary Glass Society and coordinates the annual Wirral Open Studio Tour.
