Judy trained as an illustrator and printmaker and has had a successful career in greeting card, book and magazine illustration. She has also worked as an artist-in residence within education and the community, running art-based projects with children and young people.
My work is concerned with storytelling; reflecting my dreams and childhood memories and inspired by traditional folktales. Through my use of a rich-coloured imaginary landscape and characterisation; both human, animal and somewhere in-between; I am endeavouring to create a sense of magic and otherworldliness. Painting for me has always been a form of escapism; capturing the dreamlike atmosphere of a scene in an enticing narrative.
